A Long Weekend with Our Lady of Guadalupe
Day 1, Arrival in Mexico City - Basilica of Guadalupe,
Welcome at the Mexico City airport. Transfer to the hotel. Visit Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica if permitted by the arrival schedule. Welcome dinner. Overnight stay.
Day 2, Mexico City’s Historic Center – Basilica of Guadalupe,
Breakfast. Walk Mexico City’s Historic Center: Alameda Park, Madero Street, Zócalo Square, and the Cathedral. In the afternoon visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe: Patio of the Americas, Temple of the Spring, Sanctuary Gardens with “Offering” sculpture, a symbol of unity of two cultures, Native American and Catholic Spanish. Free time to ascent to the Hill of Apparitions, with a panoramic view of the Shrine and the capital city of Mexico, Dinner. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Mexico City.
Day 3. Plaza of the Three Cultures – Pyramids of Teotihuacan,
Breakfast. Visit to the Plaza of the Three Cultures and Santiago de Tlatelolco Church where the Native American Juan Diego—to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared—was baptized. Drive north from Mexico City and tour the “City of the Gods,” Teotihuacan: the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the Avenue of the Dead. Dinner at the pyramids. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Mexico City. For those interested, a Mexican evening with a folkloric show (+95 USD).
Day 4, Basilica of Guadalupe - Departure,
Breakfast. Farewell visit to Basilica de Guadalupe. Free time for shopping and having souvenirs blessed. Drive to Mexico City airport for the departure flight.
